Galilee Ministries of East Charlotte ("Galilee," "we," "us") respects your privacy. We collect only the information we need to welcome you, keep you connected, and care for our community, and we never sell it.

This policy explains what information we collect through our website, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website and the online forms, newsletter, and giving links connected to it. Galilee Ministries of East Charlotte is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) and a special mission of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina, located at 3601 Central Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28205.

Information we collect

We collect information you choose to share with us, plus limited technical information collected automatically when you visit.

Information you give us

eNewsletter sign-up: your name and email address.
Volunteer Interest Form: your name, contact details, availability, and the ways you'd like to get involved.
Contact form: your name, email, and whatever you include in your message, such as a question or a request to host an event.
Emails and calls: whatever you include when you reach out to us directly.
Donations: your name, email, and gift amount. Payment details are entered on PayPal's site, not ours, so we never see or store your card or bank information.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, our website host may collect basic technical details, such as your browser type, device, general location (city or region), the pages you view, and how you arrived at our site. This information is used in summary form to understand how the site is used.

How we use your information

We use your information only to carry out our mission and stay in touch with you. That includes:

Sending our monthly eNewsletter with events, volunteer needs, and community stories
Matching volunteers with opportunities and scheduling shifts
Responding to your questions and requests
Processing donations and sending tax receipts and thank-you notes
Coordinating Community Lunches, events, and partner use of the Galilee Center
Understanding how our website is used so we can make it easier to navigate
Meeting legal and financial record-keeping requirements

Services we use

We rely on a few trusted outside services to run our website and programs. When you use them, your information is also handled under that service's own privacy policy.

Wix: hosts our website and may collect visit data and cookies.
Constant Contact: sends our eNewsletter and event invitations, and may collect your name, email, and whether emails are opened.
PayPal: processes online donations, and may collect your name, email, and payment details.
Google Forms: collects Contact Us and Volunteer Interest Form responses, including whatever you enter on the form.
Bitly: shortens some of our links, and may record when a link is clicked.
Amazon: hosts our Lydia’s Pantry wishlist, and may collect Amazon account and purchase details.
Instagram and Facebook: share photos and news from Galilee, and may collect your activity when you visit or follow our pages.

We don’t control how these services use information, so we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

How we share information

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:

With the services listed above, so they can do their work for us.
With Community Partners, only with your permission, such as when you ask to volunteer with or join a partner’s program.
With the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina, in summary form for ministry reporting, without names or contact details.
When required by law, or to protect the safety of our community.

Cookies are small files your browser saves so a website works properly and remembers your visit. Our website host uses cookies to keep the site running, improve security, and count visits.

We don’t use cookies to show you advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as smoothly without them.

Your choices

You’re always in charge of how we stay in touch.

Unsubscribe: click “Unsubscribe” at the bottom of any eNewsletter, or email us.
Update or correct: email us to change your contact details or volunteer information.
Delete: ask us to remove your information, and we will, except for records we must keep for tax or legal reasons, such as donation records.
Ask: email us anytime to learn what information we have about you.

Keeping your information safe

We limit access to your information to the staff and volunteers who need it, and we use reputable services with their own security protections. No website or email system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable care to protect what you share.

We keep your information only as long as we need it. Newsletter contacts stay on our list until you unsubscribe. Donation records are kept as long as tax and financial rules require.

Photos and stories

We love sharing what happens at Galilee, from the garden beds to the lunch tables. We ask permission before naming anyone or telling their story on our website, in our newsletter, or on social media. We take special care with photos of children and with neighbors whose safety or privacy matters, including refugee and immigrant families.

If you’d like a photo of you or your family removed, email us and we’ll take it down.
If you’d rather not be photographed at a Galilee event, just let a staff member or volunteer know.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as our programs and tools change. When we do, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date.
