Host a Food is Love Community Lunch at Galilee!

Join us in serving our neighbors! Members of your congregation, community group,

small group, or organization can be a part of this important community outreach by

volunteering to host one (or more!) of our free monthly Food is Love Community Lunches.

Lunches are scheduled for the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

at Galilee in the Flag Hall.

Options for How to Get Involved:

  • Provide food/beverages (tea, lemonade, etc.)

  • Provide food/beverages, plus – set up and/or serve and/or clean up

  • Cover the whole lunch (provide food/beverages, set up food, serve food, and

    clean up)

Since September 2025, we’ve averaged around 50 people per lunch, with the lowest

number being 30 and the highest being around 100. We’ve found that it’s better to err

on the side of preparing more food – we always have to-go containers on hand!

To date, lunch hosts have offered both meat and vegetarian options.

Flag Hall Set Up (before lunch)

Help us create a welcoming and comfortable space for our guests! Tasks include:

  • Set up tables and chairs (either Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning)

  • Add tablecloths and centerpieces (Galilee often has small floral arrangements available)

  • Roll and set out silverware/napkins

  • Prepare food-service and drink stations

  • Set out other essentials

Provide and Serve Food

Groups may cook and bring food or prepare it onsite in Galilee’s kitchen. Tasks include:

  • Plan a simple, balanced meal

  • Prepare main dish, sides, dessert, and beverages

  • Set up and maintain food stations

  • Serve food to guests with warmth and friendliness

Hospitality

A warm welcome makes all the difference! Tasks include:

  • Greet guests as they arrive

  • Help guests find a seat

  • Check in to see if anyone needs seconds, drinks, or assistance

  • Visit with guests to build community and connection

Clean-Up (after lunch)

Many hands make light work! Tasks include:

  • Clear and wipe down tables

  • Fold and store tables and chairs

  • Sweep and mop, if needed

  • Gather and take out trash and recyclables

  • Wash and put away dishes and utensils

  • Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces and equipment
